The Social Impact Chair<\/a> of the Comillas Pontifical University<\/a> presented the notebook \u201cNon-Financial Support: Technical Assistance in Impact Investing\u201d<\/a>, which aims to raise awareness of The transformative capacity of technical assistance in impact investing<\/strong>. 

Technical assistance, also known as non-financial support, is a non-reimbursable instrument that can accompany impact investment to strengthen the capabilities of invested organisations<\/strong>, \u201dimprove its sustainability and\/or measure and manage investment impact, and it creates the conditions for innovation and the attraction of private commercial capital for social transformation,\" the researchers assure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second notebook from the department presents the characteristics and potential of technical assistance and analyses and illustrates the main emerging models<\/strong> in the Spanish impact investment ecosystem<\/strong>, with four case studies and numerous reference examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B\u00e1rbara Calder\u00f3n, a member of the chair and coordinator of the booklet, defended the importance of technical assistance and insisted on the recognition that the report grants to its value in impact investment \u201cin the service of social innovation\u201d, as well as the The strategic role of foundations and the third sector<\/strong> and of the social economy, a relevant role in supporting the impact economy and its drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation of the work was attended by Silverio Agea, Director-General of the Spanish Association of Foundations<\/a>, which highlighted the strategic role of foundations in technical assistance, within the framework of the strategic philanthropy<\/strong> and impact investing. It is no coincidence that the notebook corroborates these claims, as they underpin impact investing ecosystems in different countries and are beginning to do so in Spain, and it highlights the transformative potential of community foundations, which are still emerging in Spain,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The round table also featured Ic\u00edar Jim\u00e9nez, co-director of the UAM \u2013 Open Value Foundation Impact Investment Chair, who highlighted the important role of technical assistance in ensuring investment impact and achieving the 2030 Agenda, and Jorge Barrero, Director General of the Cotec Foundation<\/a>, which defined technical assistance as catalyst for innovation for social transformation<\/strong>, and described investments that have a social impact as \u201csynergistic\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four case studies presented in the booklet, as well as other \u201cimpact investment\u201d initiatives with non-financial support referenced throughout the text, show that \u201cthe sector is at a very dynamic moment, which is laying the foundations for a fertile ecosystem capable of flexibly responding to the demand for capital and non-financial support from social enterprises and third-sector entities,\u201d as argued by Carlos Ballesteros, director of the Comillas ICADE Social Impact Chair.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
