It wasn't about replacing donation programmes, which remain essential, but about Add an extra lever: support projects with high social potential through patient finance, guidance and professional evaluation criteria. In other words: moving from “funding activities” to drive organisations capable of scaling solutions.

From intention to method: a collective learning

These five years have been, above all, an exercise in shared learning. FdF has functioned as a practical space, where participating foundations learn by doing: analysing real projects, testing hypotheses, measuring results and supporting entrepreneurial teams. Impact investment requires rigour when done well: clarity of thesis, understanding of risk, design of metrics, governance and monitoring. And this can only be acquired through experience.

Therefore, one of FdF's differentiating factors has been the construction of a solid process: evaluation committees, consistent criteria, structured debate, and a culture of continuous improvement. Throughout this journey, we have refined our tools: from evaluation frameworks (impact, feasibility, team, scalability) to tracking systems that allow us to measure evolution and learning, beyond “success” understood solely as financial growth.

Five years supporting businesses with purpose

In this period, we have had the privilege of accompanying Purpose-driven companies and organisations who work in fields as diverse as socio-labour inclusion, the circular economy, or education. Each supported project has brought with it a lesson: on the value of local proximity, on the difficulty of scaling without losing one's essence, on the importance of evidence, or on how to build alliances that sustain growth.

We have also confirmed something essential: capital alone does not transform. What transforms is the Well-oriented capital, combined with support, governance, networking, and a relationship based on both trust and high expectations. And in that “both” lies the key: supporting without being patronising, demanding without stifling, accompanying without replacing the entrepreneurial team.

An ecosystem that matures

Five years on, the context is different. The conversation around impact investment in Spain has evolved: there is more knowledge, more players, more examples and, therefore, more demand. That's great news. The challenge now is to prevent the term from being hollowed out and to maintain ambition: Measurable impact, genuine intentionality, and discipline in resource allocation.

In this regard, FdF wants to continue adding value from a very specific place: to be a learning vehicle for foundations, and a long-term ally for social organisations that need patient capital to grow. Impact isn't built in a quarter: it's built with continuity, focus and the ability to sustain decisions even when the easy thing would be to look away.

We look to the future with greater ambition (and greater humility)

Celebrating the 5th Anniversary is celebrating the more than 45 foundations that have committed to learning, the people who have dedicated hours to evaluating and supporting, and the entrepreneurial teams that have accepted challenges, shared their realities, and built solutions in conditions that are almost never simple.

But, above all, this anniversary is a reminder: There is still a lot to do.. If these five years have taught us anything, it's that social transformation requires perseverance and collaboration. The FdF was born as a collective endeavour and will continue to be so: a place where the third sector trains, professionalises and dares to innovate to amplify its impact.

Thanks to all the foundations, individuals, and organisations who have been part of this journey.
