61% of the population of Northern Uganda live in poverty. 25 years of armed conflict forced many to live in Internally Displaced Person’s camps. Since 2008, they started returning home, facing the challenge of reconstructing their lives as subsistence farmers. 

GADC buys organic and traditionally produced cotton to smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda, gins it and sells the lint to international buyers, providing farmers with the much needed access to markets. Additionally, Gulu offers support, training and agricultural inputs to farmers.

GADC has reached 40,000 smallholder farmers allowing them to transcend subsistence farming and reach income-generating markets. 7,500 farmers have been certified as organic growers receiving a price premium of more than 20% for their cotton crops.
